Creative Writing professor publishes Vietnam chapbook, interviewed in online press newsletter

MOUNT VERNON – Dr. Thom Brucie, assistant professor of English and creative writing at Brewton-Parker College, was recently featured in an online press newsletter about his latest published work, a poetry chapbook centered on the human experience during the Vietnam War.
Dr. Brucie’s chapbook, “Moments Around a Campfire with a Vietnam Vet”, was published by Cervena Barva Press in June. Kelley Arnold, BPC’s Director of News and Public Information, interviewed him for a Q & A style article for the publishing house’s July online newsletter.

Dr. Brucie will teach an intermediate creative writing class this fall on the Mount Vernon campus. This evening class is open to the community and registration is going on now. Cost for non-credit (community members) is $150. The class will be held Tuesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Dr. Brucie is the faculty advisor for the college’s literary journal, “Oracle”, and is the founding editor of the “Journal of the Georgia Philological Association”. A story collection, “Still Waters: Five Stories”, was a Georgia Author of the Year nominee in the short fiction genre.
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia. With its main campus located in Mount Vernon, the college also offers bachelor’s and associate’s degrees at its three external sites in Newnan, Norman Park and Liberty County.
