MOUNT VERNON—Phil Bettis of the Brady Foundation in Atlanta presented Dr. David R. Smith, Brewton-Parker College President, with a $10,000 donation to be used for facilities at the college. Bettis presented the check at the Feb. 2 Chapel Service in Saliba Chapel on the Mount Vernon campus.
“Phil Bettis and the Brady Foundation have now provided funding for all three Georgia Baptist colleges,” said Dr. Smith. “We are very grateful that the Brady Foundation, under the strong leadership of Mr. Bettis, has assisted the friends of Brewton-Parker College in completing the McAllister Hall renovation project.”
Bettis, a lawyer and graduate of a Christian university, gave the Chapel message as well. He is also a member of the Georgia Baptist Convention Executive Committee. Bettis has a long association with Brewton-Parker, said Dr. Smith. He is the cousin of former BPC librarian, Rev. Charles Bettis.
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in South Georgia. Affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention, BPC’s main campus is located in Mount Vernon and it has an external center in Newnan.
