MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College’s Student Government Association (SGA) is back for a new semester ready to push forward with their student-oriented agenda.
“It’s a new semester and the SGA plans to continue to turn over new ground,” said Joshua McPhatter, student body president. “We saw unparalleled progress last semester but there remains a lot to do.”
McPhatter added the SGA is on the right track because of the talented members which make up the organization and the support it receives from students.
When asked what the SGA plans to do this semester, McPhatter stated, “The organization will focus on opening the lines of communication between all sections of the college, rebuilding student life and addressing issues with campus infrastructure. Our duty is to make sure students come first and we plan to fight for what the student body wants. We realize we have been called to lead at a critical juncture for our college, a time when students need us more than ever.”
In the end, SGA leaders say they will need the support of the student body in order to more the college forward.
“We can’t do it alone. We need the student body to stand up and speak out. We need them to get connected on campus,” said McPhatter.
E’Quain Rhodes, student body vice president, added, “I would like to see the students and Senate more involved in the decision making process of the college.”
Vice President Rhodes, a member of SGA since Fall 2007, stated he has seen SGA grow by leaps and bounds since he has been within the organization.
With a bright future in sight and a game plan in mind, the Brewton-Parker SGA commits to do all it can to make the campus a much better place for current and future students.
