MOUNT VERNON—Carmen Turner of Baxley, a Brewton-Parker College sophomore, auditioned on television's "American Idol" Jan. 13 - and was selected for the next round of the singing competition, to be filmed in Hollywood.
Turner has performed with the college's Concert Choir, Trejeito (a jazz ensemble) and was one of the female leads in last year's BPC production of "Phantom".
"I am so proud of Carmen and she represents Brewton-Parker in a most wonderful way," said Dr. Sonja Sepulveda, music professor. " She has a beautiful voice but more that that she has a beautiful spirit that shows through in her singing. I have my fingers crossed for her and many are being prayers sent up in her behalf. Godspeed, Carmen!"
