Rep. John Barrow to address BPC Commencement May 15

MOUNT VERNON – Brewton-Parker College will hold commencement exercises for students qualifying to obtain degrees during in the Fall 2009, Spring 2010 and Summer 2010 semesters, Saturday, May 15 on the Mount Vernon campus.
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and will be held in the Gillis Gym inside the Snooks Student Activities Center. Doors will open at 9 a.m.
Commencement speaker for the 2010 ceremony is Rep. John Barrow (D-GA). Rep. Barrow is currently serving his third term as a Congressman from Georgia’s 12th Congressional District. He serves on the Energy & Commerce Committee in the House of Representatives. He lives in Savannah.
“Having Representative Barrow as commencement speaker this year is a truly historic event,” said Dr. David R. Smith, BPC President. “Mr. Barrow is participating in one of the most active Congresses in recent history and has capably represented the interests of higher education during his years of national service for our region.”
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia. Affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention, the college holds classes on its main campus in Mount Vernon and at its external sites in Liberty County, Newnan and Norman Park.
