BPC announces Transfer Scholarship for upcoming spring semester

  Brewton-Parker College is offering an extra $2,000 scholarship to transfer students who meet certain academic requirements, such as a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of transfer for Spring 2011.

BPC hosts Alumni and Friends luncheon at Flint Riverquarium

  Brewton-Parker College’s Office of Alumni Relations hosted a respite from the busy activities of the 2010 Georgia Baptist Convention last week. About 35 pastors, alumni and friends of the college were welcomed at an Alumni and Friends Luncheon at the Flint Riverquarium in Albany Tuesday, Nov. 16.

BPC students tour Andersonville

 

Brewton-Parker College’s History Society sponsored a Saturday trip to Andersonville, Ga. to tour the National Prisoner of War Museum, Nov. 6. Trip attendees included students Victoria Simpson, president of the History Society; Roy Scoggins, vice president; Ray Minks, secretary; Ashley Marsteller, Tyler Watts and Chelsey Scott, and professors Ian Crowe, Harry Vogel and Mary Waalkes.

BPC Softball collects canned food, donations for God’s Storehouse

  The Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons Softball Team delivered 1,200 cans and donated $450 to God’s Storehouse of Vidalia Nov. 8 after three days of collecting food at the Piglet in Mount Vernon, Harveys and Wal-Mart in Vidalia, and Thriftway in Lyons.

BPC undergoes SACS reaffirmation

 

Brewton-Parker College recently hosted a reaffirmation committee from the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

During the three-day series of interviews and compliance reviews at the Mount Vernon campus Nov. 9-11, the committee made 15 recommendations to the college.

BPC welcomes new Human Services club

 

Brewton-Parker College’s newest student organization on campus has already made an impression on the campus and the community this semester. The Human Services Club, which originated last spring in Dr. Susan Kinsella’s HS 201 “Introduction to Human Services” class, along with Fellowship of Christian Athletes, held a can drive challenge on campus last week.

Q Kelley Classic opens Barons Basketball season

 

Brewton-Parker College’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball opened their season in grand style at home this past weekend with the Q Kelley Memorial Tip-off Classic, Nov. 5-6. Named in honor of former BPC player, Quintereal Javoris “Q” Kelley who lost his life earlier this year, the classic lent an air of excitement to campus as six teams traveled to Mount Vernon to participate in a series of games Friday and Saturday.

Barons Athletics leads Chapel Oct. 28

  Brewton-Parker College’s Athletics Department led Chapel Oct. 28 and included a skit, a student testimony and a message by Barons Baseball player, Ross Jenkins, who urged his peers to “get your priorities in order,” with God being at the top of the list.

Sigma Tau Delta presents “The BPC Book Club”

 

Sigma Tau Delta, Brewton-Parker College’s English Honor Society, presents “The BPC Book Club”, said Dr. Thom Brucie, assistant professor of English and creative writing. The first selection the book club will read is entitled “Umberto Eco’s Masterpiece, The Name of The Rose.”

BPC Dunk Contest includes jumps over car, people at Midnight Fright

 

Brewton-Parker College’s 2010-2011 Basketball Season opened Thursday night with Midnight Fright, a family-friendly seasonal pep rally in the Gillis Gym. Although no one won the $1,000 half-court shot contest, the BPC Dunk Contest by the Men’s Basketball Team included two brag-worthy moments.

BPC’s Choir, Wind, Brass ensembles to take stage Nov. 16

  Brewton-Parker College encourages the community to mark its calendars now for the college’s Fall Flavors Concert of the BPC Choir, Wind Ensemble and Brass Ensemble. The concert will be held Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Gilder Recital Hall on the Mount Vernon campus.
