When most people think of Dining Services at Brewton-Parker College, they think of food, flex (dollars) and friends.
This year, however, Dining Services at Brewton-Parker is known for much more. This year, when you think of ARAMARK at Brewton-Parker College, you’ll soon be thinking of service, and we’re not just talking about the food we serve but about serving the BPC Community and Montgomery-Toombs community members.
Recently ARAMARK teamed up with the BPC Student Government Association to help provide a fresh new look for the SGA Office, located in the Phillips Student Center on the Mount Vernon campus. ARAMARK gladly donated the painting supplies and labor to give the SGA Members a refreshing new look for their office, hoping to help create an inviting place for BPC Students to visit. This is just an extra way Dining Services hopes to “Serve the Students.”
ARAMARK also participates in a Recycling Program, hoping the BPC family will help us in our efforts to keep our dining locations and earthly environment clean. ARAMARK has provided Recycling Bins for both plastic and paper products inside the Phillips Student Center across from the staircase leading down to our Residential Restaurant.
Along with proudly brewing Starbucks Coffee, a recent addition to Dining Services at BPC is our Pura Vida Coffee. Pura Vida is now offered in our Residential Restaurant. Why “Pura Vida”? The Pura Vida coffee brand is “shade grown.” Being “shade grown” helps to facilitate a bio-diverse environment, helps provide natural habitats for forest animals and helps reduce deforestation and erosion.
According to Pura Vida Coffee’s website, “Pura Vida volunteers are helping to restore the Hazel Wolf Wetlands Preserve,” and, “Pura Vida helps support the Seattle City Light Green Power program. This programs helps support local renewable energy demonstration projects that are not currently a part of City Light's resource portfolio.” You can learn more about Pura Vida Coffee by visiting http://www.puravidacoffee.com/.
When asked why ARAMARK hoped to get more involved on the Mount Vernon Campus, Food Service Director, Mrs. Ruth Underwood said, “We, at ARAMARK, feel like we’re a part of the BPC family. ARAMARK has partnered with Brewton-Parker since 1982, helping to improve Campus Dining Services. This year ARAMARK at Brewton-Parker College is hoping to go beyond our kitchens and service lines, to expand our partnership at Brewton-Parker College and with the community.”
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited, four-year Christian college in South Georgia.
