This year’s annual Rocket Blast-off saw clear skies and high-flying rockets. Seven kids built model rockets.
“Each and every child successfully launched their rockets to an altitude of about 300 feet,” said Dr. Christopher Jones, BPC chemistry professor and event organizer.

“A wonderful set of college students from Dr. Jon Shuman’s Freshman Year Experience course assisted the kids in constructing their rockets,” added Dr. Jones.
These college students also built three large rockets that were launched as well. These impressive rockets soared to as high as 600 feet. This year, for the first time, all the rockets were recovered.
“We can thank God for giving us beautiful weather including calm winds,” said Dr. Jones. “We look forward to next fall’s Rocket Blast-off, which will mark the tenth anniversary of the event on the Brewton-Parker campus.”
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited, four-year Christian college in South Georgia.
