BPC freshman Elizabeth Baker is the recipient of the 2010-2011 Georgia Foundation for Independent Colleges (GFIC) Trustees Endowment Fund Scholarship. Baker was notified of her selection of the scholarship earlier this semester, said Shannon Mullins, Director of Financial Aid.

Baker was selected based on her academic achievement and financial need. The scholarship totals $1,000 and is for one academic year. This amount also “added” to Baker’s financial award package, helping her choose to attend BPC.

Baker, originally from Kennesaw, Georgia, is a resident on the BPC campus in Mount Vernon. She is an education major. She plans to pursue a career in education, and would like to attend Valdosta State University after graduation to further her education in American Sign Language.

“Brewton-Parker is a really nice college. You can get to know people here. It’s not too populated,” said Baker. “Softball is also wonderful. I love playing for Coach Bryant, and I like his coaching method. The girls are wonderful, too. We have the opportunity to get together off the field and watch movies and play games. This allows us to bond as a team, which ultimately helps us on the field.”

Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
