On Friday, October 8, about 85 eighth graders from Montgomery County Middle School accompanied their teacher, Carol Morris, to the Historic Village at Brewton-Parker College. The visit enhanced the students’ studies in Georgia history, which Mrs. Morris teaches.
The Historic Village Committee guided students through historic crafts and games, such as making corn shuck dolls, making butter, spinning yarn, and rolling a hoop, while also telling stories of the Cooper-Conner and Berry Thompson families who were early settlers to the area. A pony and goats were on hand for students to pet, or in the case of the goats, attempt to milk.

Several Brewton-Parker college students, some of whom were dressed in period costume, acted as guides for the middle school students.
