Mount Vernon Bank writing contest accepts essays
MOUNT VERNON—Every year, Mount Vernon Bank sponsors a Brewton-Parker College writing contest for upcoming juniors and seniors. The winner receives $1,000, and the award is presented at BPC’s Honor’s Day, April 26, 2011.
This year’s theme is “The Economic Interdependency of Brewton-Parker College to the Local Community.” The topic involves thinking about the economy, about Brewton-Parker’s local economic influence, and the relationship of the local community to the school. Essays, between 300 to 500 words in length, may focus on any aspect of the theme. All essays must be turned in to the Arts and Letters Division no later than 5 p.m., Friday, April 15

Scholarship funds may be used for any educational purpose. In addition, the winning student will work as a writing tutor in the Writing Center during the next school year.
