BPC adopts bridging mission and vision statement

  Brewton-Parker College Board of Trustees adopted a bridging mission and vision statement for the College as presented by BPC Acting President Dr. Mike Simoneaux April 21 at the regular board meeting.
BPC Annual Fund sets $410,000 goal
  Brewton-Parker College’s Annual Fund season is in full swing this April under the direction of Jessica James, interim vice president for college advancement.

Barons Baseball retires #24 ‘Dee’ Taylor’s jersey
  The #8 Barons Baseball team joined in a special ceremony Friday, April 8 before an evening game against #1 Lee University to remember one of its own. BPC Athletic Director Sheila Simmons led the ceremony to retire #24 Michael Derek “Dee” Taylor’s jersey. The sophomore varsity baseball player was killed in a car accident Sunday, Oct. 10, 2010.

Lady Barons Softball dedicates April 16 games to Snyder’s father

  The Lady Barons Softball team dedicated its April 16 games against Truett-McConnell College to Heather Snyder’s father, who succumbed to H1N1 last year.

Husqvarna donates mowers to Brewton-Parker College

  Husqvarna Outdoor Products, Inc., of McRae, Ga., donated six mowers and two replacement motors to Brewton-Parker College on March 16, 2011.

  Only a week into his new role at Brewton-Parker College as interim head men’s basketball, BPC alum Jarvis Smith (’04) of Vidalia is focusing on fall recruitment.

Hollis crowned Miss BPC 2011

  Junior Marla Hollis of Patterson was crowned Miss BPC 2011 during the 2011 Miss Brewton-Parker College Pageant Friday, April 8 in the Gilder Recital Hall.

BPC restructures academic divisions, reinstates music program

  Brewton-Parker College announces today it is restructuring its academic programs into four main divisions: Arts & Sciences, Christian Studies, Business and Education, said Dr. Mike Simoneaux, acting president. No academic majors will be reduced as a result of this restructuring.

BPC celebrates ‘Amazing’ Alumni Weekend with return of Music Dept.

  Brewton-Parker College hosted more than 500 alumni and friends on campus Friday and Saturday during its Alumni Weekend, April 8-9. “This year’s event was one of the largest gatherings in more than a decade,” said Jessica James (’04), interim vice president for college advancement. “It was a simply amazing weekend for all who attended.”
BPC inducts Hall of Fame recipients
  Brewton-Parker College recognized several alumni during Alumni Weekend 2011, April 9, for their distinguished service to their fields and for their outstanding athletic records and achievements.

  Brewton-Parker College Director of Athletics Sheila Simmons is pleased to announce the hiring of Jarvis Smith of Vidalia as the Interim Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Brewton-Parker College. 

GBC President to address BPC Commencement May 14

  Brewton-Parker College will hold commencement exercises for students qualifying to obtain degrees during the Fall 2010, Spring 2011 and Summer 2011 semesters, Saturday, May 14 on the Mount Vernon campus.

Circle K hosts pancake fundraiser at McDonalds, creates BPC Onion Run team

  Brewton-Parker College’s Circle K student service club invites the community to participate in an “All You Can Eat Pancakes” fundraiser Tuesday, April 12 at the Vidalia McDonalds. Circle K members and other members of BPC student organizations and teams will serve pancakes to the patrons from 5 to 8 p.m. inside the dining area.

Mount Vernon Bank writing contest accepts essays

  Every year, Mount Vernon Bank sponsors a Brewton-Parker College writing contest for upcoming juniors and seniors. The winner receives $1,000, and the award is presented at BPC’s Honor’s Day, April 26, 2011.

Alumni Weekend at BPC to feature Reunion Alumni Choir

  Alumni and friends of Brewton-Parker College are encouraged to attend Alumni Weekend “Old Friends, Good Memories”, this Friday and Saturday, April 8-9.

Biannual Math and Science Festival open to K-12 students

  Brewton-Parker College will host its annual Spring Math & Science Festival Saturday, April 9 in the college’s Morgan-Moses Building on its Mount Vernon campus from 10 a.m to noon.

Miss BPC to be crowned Friday in Gilder Recital

  The 2011 Miss BPC Pageant will be held Friday, April 8 at 6 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall. This poise, beauty and scholarship competition, hosted by the Office of Student Affairs, is part of the 2011 Alumni Weekend activities.
