GBC President to address BPC Commencement May 14

MOUNT VERNON – Brewton-Parker College will hold commencement exercises for students qualifying to obtain degrees during the Fall 2010, Spring 2011 and Summer 2011 semesters, Saturday, May 14 on the Mount Vernon campus.
Brewton-Parker returns to the historic tradition of holding the ceremony inside the 1,000-seat Saliba Chapel this year. Doors open at 9 a.m. and the ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Guests are asked to be seated by 9:30 a.m.
Commencement speaker for the 2011 ceremony is Dan Spencer, president of the Georgia Baptist Convention. Spencer is pastor of First Baptist Church of Thomasville. He has served as GBC President since 2009. He is a contributing author to “One Year Devotional Prayer Book” published by Thomas Nelson in 2009. He resides in Thomasville with his wife, Tresa, and their two sons.
“I believe Dr. Spencer has a message from the Lord that will impact our graduates and all those who attend the commencement ceremony on May 14. BPC welcomes Dr. Spencer to the campus,” said BPC Acting President Dr. Mike Simoneaux.
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia. Affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention, the college holds classes on its main campus in Mount Vernon and at its external site in Newnan.
