“Beware of Christians”

MOUNT VERNON—Reverend Vernon Lloyd of New Direction Baptist Church in Dublin, Ga visited Brewton-Parker College November 29th to preach the message for the final Fall Saliba Chapel service. As the students were beginning to prep for Finals, Reverend Lloyd left them with an important reminder—that they are Christians by name. “God has you here for a reason,” declared Lloyd to his listeners. “He wants a personal relationship with you. Let Him work in you and not just at church.” Lloyd encouraged the students to open up and accept God’s working in their lives. “God does not only want to work on you, but within you as well, so that you can make a difference in the world.” It is important that Christians take this reminder to heart. God loves his children and made each one for a specific purpose. When we open up and let God in, everyone around us will know who it is that drives and sustains us. In closing, Reverend Lloyd encouraged the students to wear their Christian name proudly. “Hang a sign around your neck that says ‘Beware of Christian!’ and let the world know that you mean business.”
The mission of Brewton-Parker College, a Georgia Baptist college, is to develop the whole student through the application of Biblically-centered truth to a liberal arts curriculum in a community of shared Christian values.
