MOUNT VERNON—Faculty and students gathered on the Soccer pitch behind the Student Activity Center to take part in a Cricket match hosted by the Historical Society on Nov. 16th. A total of 63 people attended to enjoy the warm weather and sporty bat-and-ball competition. A fierce battle raged between the International Club and Historical society as both teams competed for the coveted traveling victory cup (a hand-made bowl with the words “Fish and Chips” imprinted in its side). In true British fashion, hot tea and finger sandwiches and sweets were provided by Mrs. Sarah Crowe, and Dr. Mary Waalkes with the help of Aramark. Dr. Ian Crowe supervised the match while Film Professor Garreth Jones supervised the outfield. At the end of the day, the International Club took the victory, whooping and celebrating as each member held their prize aloft. The event was a huge success, and the Historical Society hopes to host another in the Spring.
