MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College Men’s Soccer team will host two Barons Spring Break Soccer Camps during both the Vidalia Schools and Montgomery County Schools spring breaks, Monday, March 28 through Thursday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 19 through Thursday, April 21, respectively.
Registration is going on now through March 21 for the Vidalia program and April 11 for the Montgomery County program.
Boys and girls ages 5-14 are welcome to join the program. The camps will be staffed by BPC’s soccer coaches and players and are excellent for beginner to intermediate players.
“We hope to continue to introduce soccer to our community. While it is an internationally popular sport, it is only an emerging sport in this area and is competitive only at the advanced youth or collegiate level,” said Men’s Soccer Coach Michael Dye. “I hope to see a lot of new players and help train future stand-outs in the sport.”
Attendees are to bring outdoor and indoor shoes, a soccer ball, shin guards, water and a snack is optional. The day programs will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at noon. An 8 a.m. drop off is available for both camps. The program will be held at the BPC Soccer field behind the Snooks Student Activities Center. Cost is $60 per kid.
Coach Dye recently completed his first season as the Head Coach of the BPC Men’s Soccer team. Previously, he was the assistant men’s coach at West Texas A&M University (2009-2010). Primarily working with the defense and goalkeepers, the Buffs were consistently ranked #1 in the nation among all DII schools in goals against and shutouts. While at WT, Coach Dye helped the team to finish the season with a program’s highest NCAA National Ranking of #3 in the country, a 15-2-2 record and a share of the LSC Conference Title.
