MOUNT VERNON— Dr. Hal Ostrander, chair of Brewton-Parker College’s Division of Religion and Philosophy, looks forward to another successful and enjoyable Missions Practicum or Apologetics Practicum this spring to Minsk, Belarus.
This will make the trip Brewton-Parker’s third visit. Students attending the course/trip during Spring Break will earn three hours of course credit.
Minsk is the largest and capital city of Belarus, a landlocked country in Eastern Europe bordered by Russia on the northeast, Ukraine to the south, Poland to the west and Lithuania and Latvia to the northwest.
Other places Dr. Hal Ostrander has traveled with this class include Krasnador, Russia; Astana, Kazakhstan; Odessa, Ukraine; Berlin, Germany; and, Prague, Czech Republic.
“Teams of students have ministered alongside me in various capacities in these countries through: teaching Christian doctrine, apologetics, and youth ministry in both church and seminary contexts; sharing Scripture and personal testimonies with ESL students as well as with other kinds of students; preaching in churches; prayer walking; and, experiencing and forging strong bonds with the missionaries appointed to these countries as well as with the indigenous church leaders.”
Dr. Ostrander adds, “We’ve both encouraged and been encouraged by the relatively few evangelical Christians in these countries. God is at work in remarkable ways over there, in ways that we rarely hear about here at home.”
