MOUNT VERNON—Contestants in the 2011 Miss BPC Pageant are sought by the Office of Student Affairs, said Dean of Students Sherrie Helms. Deadline to participate in the poise, beauty and scholarship competition is Wednesday, March 30.
The 2010 Miss BPC Crystal Adams of Uvalda will crown the winner of this year’s pageant, which will be held Friday, April 8 at 6 p.m. in Gilder Recital Hall. This event is included in the activities of the 2011 Alumni Weekend.
Several special prizes are awarded to pageant contestants. The People’s Choice Award is given to the audience’s favorite contestant, and is voted on by ballot. The Price Spirit of BPC Award is given to the contestant who attends all required rehearsals prior to the pageant, displays a Christian attitude and kindness to others at the rehearsals, and is not selected among the top four contestant winners. The Price award is given by Jimmy Price and Millie Holder-Price of Vidalia, alumni members of the BPC Class of 1996 and 1997. A $100 scholarship is included in the prize.
Miss BPC receives a $400 scholarship, first runner up, a $300 scholarship and second runner up and third runner up winners each receive a $100 scholarship. Winner of the Interview Award also receives a $100 scholarship.
