BPC Cheerleaders take 2nd at CCA Nationals

MOUNT VERNON—The Brewton-Parker College Cheerleaders competed at its first national competition this weekend and took home second place. The ladies performed a 2-1/2 minute cheer and “with music” combination of lifts, tumbling and dance at the Christian Cheerleaders Association (CCA) Nationals in Concord, N.C. Saturday, March 5.
The squad qualified for nationals after winning the CCA South Carolina Classic in Rock Hill, S.C., February 19. This is the college’s first year as a competition squad.
The 10-person, all-girl cheer squad is coached by Kimberly Lajiness. Kelley Arnold assists and serves as chaplain.

Brewton-Parker will host Co-ed Competition Cheerleading Tryouts Saturday, April 2 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Gillis Gym on the Mount Vernon campus. Tryout will include a cheer, jumps, tumbling, small dance routine, and an interview. If high school seniors or Brewton-Parker students are not able to attend on this date, a DVD audition may be mailed to Kimberly Lajiness, Campus Mail Box #2014, P.O. Box 197, Mount Vernon, GA 30445. Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
