Camp Bridges grief camp to be held on BPC campus
MOUNT VERNON—Leadership Toombs-Montgomery, in partnership with Community Hospice, invites the community to refer its students, patients, clients and other youth to Camp Bridges, the area’s first-ever bereavement day camp.
Camp Bridges will be held at Brewton-Parker College from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2011, for children ages 6-11 and on Saturday, June 4, 2011, for ages 12-16. Camp Bridges is open to any child or teen ages 6-16 who has experienced the loss of an immediate family member or close comrade in the last three years.
Camp Bridges will provide participants with simple, practical techniques for coping with loss, grief, and adjustment. Through group discussions, artwork, and play, campers will learn how to unashamedly give voice to their feelings and to move forward during a time that is especially difficult for young people.
Campers are asked to register by May 25.
For more information, to make referrals, or to volunteer, please contact Jeff McCormick at 912-537-6679 or at jeffm@vidaliaheritage.com. Look online at www.camp-bridges.org for more information.
Camp Bridges is supported in part by a grant from Hospice Education Institute.
