MOUNT VERNON— Brewton-Parker College freshman Lauralee Price has a heart for young women who are suffering, and that passion grew into a special dinner hosted by many BPC men for the women of BPC this semester.

Jana Reynolds, BPC assistant basketball coach, talks about self-worth and how God creates each person perfectly – and not to determine one’s beauty based on society’s expectations but on the Creator’s purpose. |
The “Beautiful Mystery” dinner April 28 in the Cyber Café was co-planned by Price and BPC senior Hakeem Helmy. Price wanted the ladies on the campus to understand how “beautiful they are in the eyes of Christ”.

During the dinner, special speakers and performances by BPC students illustrated the meaning of being beautiful in God’s eyes. Special guest speaker Ollie Horne, a youth pastor of Life Point Church in Byron, told each young woman, that according to God, “you are his Princesses.” Price, 19, shared her testimony of losing her father at a young age, being plagued with insecurities and self-esteem issues during her formative years and how she overcame these feelings through the love of her Savior.

This special dinner is set to be an annual event for women on the BPC campus, said Price. A Christian Studies major, Price plans to work with the victims of sex trafficking following graduation, and this summer will be working with a mission in Africa.
Affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention, Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college south of Macon and north of Jacksonville, Fla.
