Barons are Nationals bound – Again!

MOUNT VERNON—The Brewton-Parker College Baseball team is headed back to the NAIA National Championship for its second consecutive year Thursday, May 12 when they take on Campbellsville University (K.Y.).
The opening round is hosted by Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Fla., with the first pitch being thrown out at 2:00 p.m. ET.
Last season the Barons finished the year with a 40-18 overall record and advanced to the opening round of the national tournament. The Barons went 0-2 in their first bout at the national title under Head Coach Boo Mullins (third season), who believes the team has enough experience underneath them to make a statement at this year’s title.
“Over the last three years, we have inched closer and closer towards making it to the NAIA World Series. Last year's appearance in the tournament left a hunger for another shot at the National Title,” said Coach Mullins.
The Barons are no strangers to success. In 1997, the Barons won the NAIA National Title, and under Coach Mullins, the Barons have not missed post-season play in the last three years. This year’s appearance in the tournament will be Coach Mullin’s second straight NAIA berth.
