Q Kelley Tip-Off Classic: "Almost Doesn't Count"

MOUNT VERNON—The Q Kelley Tip-Off Classic got underway Friday, Nov. 4, for both the men and women's basketball teams. The women opened up with St. Thomas University out of Miami, Florida. St. Thomas was picked as the preseason favorite to win Sun conference regular season.

Both teams displayed a winning attitude by playing nonstop aggressive basketball till the buzzer sounded. The Lady Barons went into halftime with a 28-22 lead. The final fifty-five seconds of the game was a true testament. Unfortunately, St. Thomas pulled out the win 68-65 proving almost doesn't count as the Lady Barons received their first loss of the year.

Three Barons scored double digits, Quagee Gaines lead the way with 12pts, while Takera Pinkney and Crystal Nwaopara chipped in 10pts a piece.

The Classic is in remembrance of Quintereal Kelley a former men's basketball player who fatally passed away two years ago.
