MOUNT VERNON—BPC’s 4th annual Chili Cook-off went off without a hitch Saturday, Oct. 22, on the banks of Jones Lake. Continuing the year’s tradition of new beginnings, the event was unlike any that came before it. The community was encouraged to come and taste delicious homemade chili and enjoy fun and fellowship participating in traditional games and face painting with the Brewton-Parker family all free of charge.

Youth for Christ
Youth for Christ, last year’s chili champs, were hard at work ladling cupfuls of chili for hungry guests throughout the day.

The BPC Women’s Fellowship, a group of ladies affiliated with the college who organized the event, wishes to thank Ruth Underwood, Director of Aramark Food Services; BPC President Dr. Mike Simoneaux; and, John Koon of Vidalia Communications for lending their time and taste buds to judge the four contestants’ delicious recipes.

Music and entertainment was provided by DJ Big K, while Aramark sold snacks, and Student Government representatives together with BCM offered cool refreshments to guests riding the charter bus on their way to tour the acclaimed Historic Village.

Guests generously donated a total of $300 to be used in renovating the Sarah Wilson Trye Chapel, a charming building adjacent to the Historic Village located behind Jones Lake.
