Pep Rally introduces fall sports at BPC

MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College’s Cheerleaders hosted a Fall Sports Pep Rally Friday, Aug. 26 in the Gillis Gym to introduce the Barons Men’s Soccer, Women’s Soccer and Volleyball teams to campus.
BPC Student Government President Jonathan L. Brown welcomed students, faculty and staff to the evening celebration and introduced student Will Browder, who offered prayer for the student-athletes, coaches and the new academic year.
Women’s Soccer Head Coach Jayme Dye, Men’s Soccer Head Coach Mike Dye, Volleyball Head Coach Jason Bryant and Cheerleading Advisor Kim Lajiness introduced each team member to the student body. The Barons cheerleaders, who will compete in their second year regional and national meets, then performed their first dance/cheer/stunt of the school year.
The cheerleaders offer a special thanks to BPC alum Luther Wardlaw of Vidalia for providing the team’s performance music.
The Volleyball team opened its season Saturday, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m. against Talladega College. All home volleyball games are played in the Gillis Gym.
The Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams opened their season in early August and already have wins on the board. The men are undefeated, posting an impressive 12-0 blowout over Talladega College Aug. 20 and bringing Florida College to a 4-0 loss. The women picked up a 5-3 win over Florida College, Aug. 27.
The Varsity cheer squad will cheer at Barons Men’s Basketball games this winter and their first regional competition is Nov. 5 in Dublin.

Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia. With its main campus located in Mount Vernon, the college also offers bachelor’s and associate’s degrees at its external site in Newnan.
