BPC Soccer Will Host Summer Camp in June

MOUNT VERNON— The Brewton-Parker College soccer programs will host a summer soccer camp for community youth this June on the Mount Vernon campus. The camp, Monday, June 4 through Wednesday, June 6, will begin each morning at 8:30 a.m. and end at noon.
Parents can register their children for the camp now through May 28. To register for the camp parents may download registration and liability forms by visiting www.gobaronsgo.com, then clicking on ‘camps’ on the user toolbar.
Campers will learn the basics of soccer through fun and exciting games. Soccer, which is an internationally-recognized sport, is growing in popularity locally, said camp director and Head Men’s Soccer Coach Mike Dye. Boys and girls ages 5-14 are welcome to attend. The camps are staffed by BPC’s soccer coaches and players.
“This will be our 2nd straight year offering the Barons Soccer Camps. Each year the camp has grown in popularity and the kids are having a blast. It is encouraging to know that most of the kids continue to play long after the last day of camp, which shows me the kids are learning that soccer is much more than running around on the pitch. We’ve had great feedback from parents and I hope these camps continue to be influential to growing the sport here locally,” said Coach Dye.
Attendees are to bring outdoor and indoor shoes, a soccer ball, shin guards, water and a snack. An 8:00 a.m. drop off is available for the working parent. The program will be held at the BPC Soccer field behind the Snooks Student Activities Center. Cost is $60 per kid.
