MOUNT VERNON— Karl Hay, pastor of First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon and trustee of BPC, spoke during chapel on April 17. Hay opened his message by telling the students, “We all believe in something, whether it’s in yourself, family, or graduation.” He used the biblical passage of John 20:24-31 to explain why people have a hard time believing in Jesus Christ. He gave five reasons people do not believe: lack of spiritual perception, fear/moral cowardice, misplaced love, intellectual pride, and ignorance. He ended asking, “What is keeping you from believing?”
Andrew Tucker and Laura Veale provided traditional hymns for music at chapel. Tucker played the guitar for the accompaniment. Marissa Brown made the announcements. Professor Jeff Audirsch led the congregation in prayer.
Chapel is open to the community and held weekly at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays in Saliba Chapel.
