MOUNT VERNON— Dr. Emir Caner, President of Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Georgia, spoke at Brewton-Parker’s chapel February 21. Dr. Caner used Isaiah 9:2-6 as his focal passage. He encouraged the crowd to share their stories with everyone they meet. Dr. Caner stated the importance of studying the Bible and receiving the intimate message God has for each person. “Christianity is not a crutch, but a wheelchair. A person must rely fully on Christ and not be led astray.” He gave his own short testimony and again stated to the congregation the importance of sharing with others what Christ has done in their lives.
Erica Branch provided music for the week’s chapel service through contemporary praise songs. She attends First Baptist Church of Vidalia, Georgia. Professor Jeff Audirsch provided the welcome and announcements. Many area pastors were in attendance.
Chapel is open to the community and held weekly at 11 a.m. on Tuesdays in Saliba Chapel.
