BPC to offer Pillars of Excellence Scholarship
MOUNT VERNON— Brewton-Parker College will award the Pillars of Excellence Scholarship to six academically-qualified freshmen enrolling in Fall Semester 2012.
The $2,000 scholarship may be renewed annually for four years as long as recipients are enrolled full-time and maintain a requisite GPA. Scholarship winners will be chosen through a selection process with set deadlines, beginning with March 9, the date the online application is due.
The minimum criteria for consideration are an SAT score of 1100 on the combined critical reading and math portions and a 3.25 high school GPA at time of application. A composite ACT score of at least 24 may be substituted for SAT scores.
Critical dates in the application process and the application form may be found online at http://www.bpc.edu/admissions/pillarsofexcellence.htm.
Applicants will be interviewed by the Academic Selection Committee March 23. The applicant will write a timed, hand-written essay on this day prior to the interviews. The essay topic will be provided at the time of composition. The Committee will review each completed portfolio and select six winners to receive the scholarship. Winners will be announced no later than April 6.
This scholarship is to be used in addition to any federal and state money the student may be eligible to receive or any other Brewton-Parker scholarships he or she may be offered.
