MOUNT VERNON— Brewton-Parker College proudly announces the exceptional achievements of six outstanding students. On December 8, 2011, each earned distinguished membership in the Georgia Xi Chapter of the Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Sciences. Vance Rhoades, Associate Professor of Psychology and Counseling, officially welcomed the inductees into the society and awarded them with certificates meriting their dedication and superior aptitude in their respective areas of study. “Our faculty is proud of the students who put forth the time and effort to better themselves and reaching the top fifth percentile. They beat the odds, and their good grades not only honor their perseverance but their families as well.”
Since its founding in 1924, Pi Gamma Mu strives to encourage and promote excellence in the social sciences and to uphold the ideals of scholarship and service. It offers students, who are willing to go above and beyond the average, the tools to increase their career interests and mobility, not only aiding them in their quest for academic fulfillment, but also growing their chances for future success. A prominent member of the Association of College Honor Societies and recognized by the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the society is a constituent organization of Section K-Social, Economic, and Political Sciences
