MOUNT VERNON— Enthusiasm and excitement were on display last week on the Barons Soccer Field as several area youth participated in the annual four-day camp hosted by Head Men’s Soccer Coach Mike Dye.
During camp, children ages 5 to 14 learned the basics of soccer and those in more advanced areas of the sport received one-on-one instruction for further skills mastery.

According to Dye, “The number one goal of the BPC Soccer camp is to provide a fun and proactive atmosphere for local players to learn about the game and develop their appreciation of the sport. Over the last four camps we’ve had players attend who play soccer on a weekly basis, and we have had players attend that have never played before. At the end of each camp, it is nice to hear back from parents that their kids have gone home and instead of putting the soccer ball in the closet, they’ve continued to play and practice with their friends at their homes. This makes me proud to know that what the staff does at each camp exceeds our number one goal.”
