Brewton-Parker College Responds to SACS-COC Decision
MOUNT VERNON— Brewton-Parker College is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award associate and baccalaureate degrees. The college remains fully accredited throughout reaffirmation, which occurs every ten years. While the college has made significant progress, the latest SACS-COC response identified weaknesses that resulted in the college being placed on probation. To address these deficiencies, the new administration implemented a plan of action designed to move the college successfully through the process toward reaffirmation in April 2013. As an integral component of that strategic plan, the college hired Dr. Tim Searcy as its new Vice President of Academic Services. Dr. Searcy has more than decade of experience working effectively with SACS. He indicated a strong belief in the mission of the college and expressed confidence that the college will successfully address these concerns. While our immediate goal is reaffirmation, our ultimate goal is to honor Jesus Christ in every area of the academy.
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college south of Macon and north of Jacksonville, FL.
