MOUNT VERNON— Dr. Jerry Ray, Chair of the Division of Religion and Philosophy at Brewton-Parker College, recently published Our Messianic Age: The Story of a Spiritual Legacy, an historical memoir and biography of twentieth century Baptist minister Robert Dismukes.
Our Messianic Age is the true story of a modern-day spiritual awakening that arises from one man’s exemplary walk with the Lord. Drawing parallels from the messianic age of Jesus and His first followers, the book narrates the life of a humble pastor who is faithful despite severe hardship, and depicts the impact he has upon six young disciples who learn to follow Jesus and become ministers of the gospel in their own right—three of them in Georgia. The story of their collective “messianic age” unfolds from its setting in a small rural community and its leading church, along with the personalities, events, and occasional humor that occupy it. The key themes of personal faith, discipleship, and evangelism emerge throughout the narrative.
Ray is also author of Narrative Irony in Luke-Acts: The Paradoxical Interaction of Prophetic Fulfillment and Jewish Rejection.
Our Messianic Age: The Story of a Spiritual Legacy can be purchased online at amazon.com (Paperback edition: $14.95; Kindle edition: $2.99) and from Lighthouse Christian Publishing. The publication will also be available at Christian bookstores in the near future.
