Brewton-Parker’s own Dr. Charlie Bass spoke at the chapel service on October 9, 2012. His message was based on Matthew 6:32-34. He started by placing these two verses in the context of Matthew 6:24, which talks about how slaves can only serve one master. He said that, as Christians, we try to serve both the world and God as our masters. He then told students how to serve God by giving them a couple of take away statements:
- Spend time with God, not have a time with God.
- Study God’s word, don’t simply read God’s word.
The BPC Concert Choir had their semester debut at the chapel. They sang two songs as part of the worship-through-song segment of the service. Jeff Audirsch also announced that certain memorial items are available for purchase, including engraved bricks and benches. Audition dates for “Voices of Truth” were also announced as November 1, 8, and 29. Interested singers should contact Dr. David Wilson for more information.
