On October 2, 2012, BPC students Andrew Michael Tucker and Laura Veale opened the chapel service in worship. Tucker strummed on the guitar while Laura sang traditional hymns. However, they were not the only special music leaders. Eric and Heather Fossmo, husband and wife, also sang two of their original songs and shared a little of their testimonies. The Fossmos call themselves “music-ionaries,” and live by faith as they travel the country singing praises to God.

Dr. Bryant Wright, pastor of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church and former SBC president, was also a special guest at the chapel. He shared a message about the “Ultimate Final Exam” with students. Wright quoted throughout his message from Revelation 20:11-15. He told the congregation that when believers face judgment, Christ will consult two different books: the Book of Life, and the Book of Deeds.

According to Wright, the first book will contain the names of Christians, while the second one will be full of people who tried to be good enough. “There is nothing we can do to earn the favor of God,” he said. After briefly talking about the final separation from God in the Lake of Fire, he shared with students two simple phrases, “If you’re only born once, you’ll die twice. If you’re born twice, you’ll only die once.”

He finished his message by asking the chapel congregation, “If you came to the scene of the Ultimate Final Exam, would you pass or fail today?”

As part of the announcements at the beginning of chapel, Jeff Audirsch shared an opportunity to fight hunger. From now until October 31, those interested in supporting this cause should donate non-perishable food items at any Ameris Bank location. Students can contact Dr. Charlie Bass for more information.
