MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker’s annual “Back to School Bash” took place this year Monday, August 27 on the Mount Vernon campus. BCM took initiative to help host the event. With a 25 ft. long ice-cream sundae, the ministry helped draw in students for a chance to mingle with one another and representatives from local churches.
Located in the Gillis Gym, tables were displayed with information about the local churches for students who were looking to get involved. This event provided a great opportunity for the different students to find a church that best suited their needs. Representatives from First Baptist Church of Mount Vernon, Tabernacle Baptist Church of Vidalia, First Baptist Church of Soperton, Cross Timbers Baptist Church of Vidalia, and First Baptist Church of Glenwood were available to share information about their church.
“Coming in and not knowing about the different churches in the area was going to be a bit of a challenge,” commented one student when asked about the event. “It was great to be able to come and speak with the leaders of these churches to get an idea of who they are and what they are about.”
After speaking with the different churches, the students were then invited to grab a spoon and dig into the ice-cream sundae. A couple of tables were placed together so that the massive dessert could be constructed. Along with the ice-cream, different toppings were provided for students to make the experience even better. The whole event was a cherry on top for the start of a new year.
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college south of Macon and north of Jacksonville, FL.
