MOUNT VERNON—Dr. Jerry Peele from First Baptist Church of Eastman visited Brewton-Parker on Tuesday, Jan. 29 as the chapel service guest speaker. His message came from John 3:1-5. During his message, Peele defined a Christian as, “Someone who has received a supernatural event.” While speaking on Nicodemus, Peele said, “The problem with Nicodemus is that he was already doing everything he could. Religion is not enough [for somebody to go to heaven.]”

Peele taught that Jesus has given us a great gift by inviting us to eternal life. He quoted John 7:38, where Jesus says, “Whoever believes in me, as Scriptures say, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” (NIV)

Erica Branch also returned as guest music leader. This was the second of fourteen chapels for spring semester.
