Kennedy Continues BPC Chapel Series

Chapel Worship

Shannon Komm, a BPC alumna, plays guitar and sings while Andrew Fountain, the minister of music at First Baptist Church Vidalia, leads worship from the piano. Students throughout Saliba Chapel responded to the movement of God and worshipped.

Rev. Bucky Kennedy

MOUNT VERNON— “Jesus was intentional about following his Father’s will,” Rev.  Bucky Kennedy stated during Brewton-Parker’s October 22 chapel service, “You want to follow Jesus? Be intentional about it.” The message was a continuation from October 15, where Kennedy first started preaching on how to daily take up one’s cross. Kennedy uses the letters in “daily” to create an acronym for his listeners. “D” is for “discipline” while “A” stands for “accountability.” Kennedy opened his message by talking about “intentionality.”

As the message continued, Kennedy shared that “L” is for God’s love. Kennedy said, “When God says he loves you, he’s not being silly. He’s dead serious.” Later, when talking about God’s forgiveness because of his love, Kennedy told his listeners, “If God has forgiven you, why are you holding yourself up? Do you think you have a forgiveness greater than God’s?”

“Y,” the last letter in the acronym, stands for the word “yes.” “When you say yes to God, you say no to a lot of other things,” Kennedy said while talking about temptations, “The secret to a strong no is an even stronger yes.”

The message was based on Luke 9:23. Andrew Fountain and Shannon Komm led worship.
