Brewton-Parker Choral Society Members Sought for

2002-03 Season

Members are being sought for the Choral Society of Brewton-Parker College's 2002-03 season and rehearsals will begin Aug.20, Choral Society Director Mark Bowdidge has announced. Membership in the Choral Society is open not only to Brewton-Parker students but to community members as well, Bowdidge said. "There is no audition required to join the Choral Society, only a desire to enjoy making music," said Bowdidge, an assistant professor of music at Brewton-Parker.

The Choral Society's fall-semester schedule will include a performance on Nov. 5 of cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach (Cantata 80 "A Mighty Fortress Is Our God") and Felix Mendelssohn (Psalm 42"As the Hart Pants"). In addition, the Choral Society on Dec. 8 will join with all the Brewton-Parker music ensembles in the presentation of a Service of Lessons and Carols, performing a portion of Gerald Finzi's "In Terra Pax." The season will conclude with a performance of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's most well-known choral work, "Requiem," on April 27. Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. in the Gilder Recital Hall of the Miller Music Building on the Brewton-Parker College campus.
