MT. VERNON - Award-winning author and Pulitzer Prize finalist Rodney Jones will
be leading a session of poetry with a Southern flair Thursday at Brewton-Parker
College in a stop on the Georgia Poetry Circuit, Associate Professor of English
William Teem has announced.
Jones' poetry reading at 11 a.m. is free and will be by the fireplace in the
upstairs Food Court of the Phillips Student Center. Hot apple cider will be
served and lunch will be available in the Food Court, although patrons may also
bring their lunches.
Jones' books include "Kingdom of the Instant" and "Elegy for the Southern
Drawl."
"We are excited about having a poet of this caliber on our campus," Teem said.
This reading is the first Brewton-Parker event in the 2002-03 Georgia Poetry
Circuit. The Georgia Poetry Circuit is funded in part by a grand from the
Georgia Council for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
