BPC soccer seasons end in GACC tourney
Brewton-Parker College's soccer seasons drew to a close Monday with respective
losses in the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference postseason tournaments.
The Barons were defeated 3-1 by North Georgia College and State University in
Dahlonega, and the Lady Barons took a 7-0 loss to Shorter College in Rome, Ga.
The Lady Barons completed a 4-14 season overall after finishing the GACC
regular-season schedule with a 2-5 record, although first-year coach Jeremy Aven
said the year "turned out better than anticipated" with such a young,
inexperienced squad.
"It was definitely a learning experience for most of the girls. I thought we did
well with what we had," Aven said.
"Most of the players will be returning in the spring as well as the fall. We are
looking forward to doing a lot of training during the spring with the some
small-side games mixed in during our training. I have already started recruiting
and will hopefully have some signees before the end of the semester."
The Barons finished the season with an overall record of 3-13-1 overall, with a
1-4 record in GACC play during the regular season.
Barons coach Ben Moore called the season disappointing, and "we will be looking
for some quality players to bring in who will help this program grow to a higher
level."
