Spanish students, faculty visit CNN en Español
Members of Brewton-Parker College's Spanish 301 class and several humanities division faculty toured the studios of CNN en Español (CNN in Spanish) on Nov. 12 at the CNN Center in Atlanta.
A private, Spanish-speaking tour guide provided by CNN conducted the tour. Following the guide's presentation, he introduced the group to one of the network's top on-air personalities, Patricia Janiot. Janiot is the host of “noticiero CNN internacional,” co-host of "las noticias" and produces news specials for CNN en Español.
Janiot and the tour guide answered questions from the Brewton-Parker delegation and told the group of job opportunities at CNN for individuals who have strong writing and research skills, whether in English or Spanish.
After its interview with Janiot, the group took the customary CNN studio tour. Student participants were Mindy Cooper, Tinika Saunders, Holli LeCompte, Lynn Addison and Pablo Indacochea.
Sponsoring faculty were: Bryan Rampey, associate professor of Spanish; Sherry LeCompte, assistant professor of French and Spanish; Dr. Ruth Ellen Porter, the Grace Lorentzson Hyatt professor of English and languages and chair of humanities division; and Dr. William Denni, acting assistant vice president for external programs.
