Brewton-Parker's national accreditation reaffirmed
MOUNT VERNON -- Brewton-Parker College's national accreditation was reaffirmed
without stipulation for 10 years by the Southern Association Commission on
Colleges during the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools' recent meeting
in San Antonio, Texas.
"For the past four years, members of our faculty, staff, administration and
trustees have worked diligently to assure the college's continued
accreditation," said Dr. David Smith, Brewton-Parker's president.
"Crisis events in our recent past made this process more difficult, but our
effort have been rewarded with the commission's decision."
The Southern Association accredits colleges and schools from the Atlantic Ocean
west to New Mexico and from Kentucky to South America. About 300 schools were
considered for reaffirmation at the San Antonio meeting.
Accreditation is required for students to transfer credits or receive federal
and state financial assistance.
