Gleaton's two homers pace Barons' 8-2 win
Brewton-Parker College senior Denson Gleaton hit a pair of two-run home runs
Thursday night in leading the Barons baseball team to an 8-2 victory over
Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tenn.
The win, the Barons' fifth straight, featured a six-run rally in the third
inning that put Brewton-Parker (6-2) ahead 8-0.
Gleaton, whose first home run came in the first inning, hit his second two-run
homer of the game to give the Barons a 4-0 lead. Sophomore Chris Brown had an
RBI double and sophomore Johnny King ended the rally with a two-run single.
Barons coach Chad Parker pulled his starters after the rally in preparation for
their Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference opening series Friday and Saturday at
Shorter College in Rome.
Gleaton was 2-for-3 with his two-run homers accounting for four RBI, Brown was
2-for-3 with his RBI double and sophomore Rex Harrison was 2-for-2. Junior
Travis Long had a double.
Freshman left-hander Josh Dutto (2-0) scattered five hits and allowed two
fourth-inning runs (one earned) with four strikeouts and two walks in seven
innings.
Freshman right-hander Brandon Whitener allowed two hits and sophomore
right-hander Zane Miller allowed one, and each had a strikeout in one inning of
relief work apiece.
