With their three games rained out for the week, Brewton-Parker College baseball coach Chad Parker and the Barons received some welcomed good news from the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference.

Sophomore centerfielder Johnny King was named GACC Player of the Week for his performances in three games during the week of March 9-15.

King batting .667 during the week, with six hits in nine trips to the plate. He scored three runs, hit two doubles and one home run and had three RBI.

In the Barons' 8-5 win over North Georgia College and State University on March 11, King was 3-for-3 with two doubles, two runs scored and one RBI. King also was hit by a pitch and tallied 14 total bases in the game.

Brewton-Parker's non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, which was postponed from February because of weather, was canceled after early-week rain. Parker secured a doubleheader at Berry College in Rome to replace the Georgia College games but it too was washed out.

Then, Thursday's single non-conference game at Augusta State University was postponed to April 14.

The Barons' next home action is Tuesday with a non-conference doubleheader against Warner Southern University (Fla.) beginning at 3 p.m. Warner Southern earned a No.11 ranking in the first NAIA season ratings released March 19.

Brewton-Parker then plays host to GACC leader and No. 4 ranked Auburn University-Montgomery (Ala.) Friday, March 28, in a 6 p.m. game and Saturday, March 29, in a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
