Gleaton garners GACC Player of Week honor for
Barons

VERNON - Brewton-Parker College senior and Columbus native Denson Gleaton was
named Baseball Player of the Week by the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference for
the week of April 7-13 after his offensive successes in a three-game conference
series.
Gleaton batted .545, with six hits in 11 trips to the plate that included three
home runs, in leading Brewton-Parker to two victories over Emmanuel College in
Royston on Saturday and Sunday. For the week, Gleaton tallied five runs scored
and nine runs batted in.
In Sunday's series finale, a 14-2 Barons victory, Gleaton was 3-for-4 with five
RBI and three runs scored. Brewton-Parker improved to 22-13 overall and to 10-9
in GACC play after the series against Emmanuel.
Gleaton is a 6-foot-3, 250-pound graduate of Shaw High School in Columbus and
transferred to Brewton-Parker after playing at Gordon College. He plays first
base and center field for the Barons.
Brewton-Parker's next action is Wednesday with a GACC doubleheader at 3 p.m.
against Southern Polytechnic State University in the home finale for Gleaton and
three other Baron seniors.
Brewton-Parker finishes its GACC schedule with a series at Georgia Southwestern
State University in Americus, beginning with a single game Friday at 3 p.m. and
a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
