Brewton-Parker Choral Society Members Sought for 2003-04
Season
MOUNT VERNON -- Members are being sought for the Choral Society of
Brewton-Parker College's 2003-04 season and rehearsals will begin Aug.19, Choral
Society Director Mark Bowdidge has announced.
Membership in the Choral Society is open not only to Brewton-Parker students but
to community members as well, Bowdidge said.
"There is no audition required to join the Choral Society, only a desire to
enjoy making music," said Bowdidge, an assistant professor of music at
Brewton-Parker.
The Choral Society's fall-semester schedule will include a performance on Nov. 4
titled "Songs of Praise" that will include Franz Schubert's Mass in G, Ralph
Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs and Hubert Perry's "I Was Glad."
In addition, the Choral Society on Dec. 7 will join with all the Brewton-Parker
music ensembles in the presentation of a Service of Lessons and Carols,
performing numerous selections including the "Gloria" from Johann Sebastian
Bach's B Minor Mass.
The Choral Society also will participate in Brewton-Parker's second annual
Community Hymn Festival on March 21.
The season will conclude with a performance of Felix Mendelssohn's oratorio
Elijah on April 25 as part of Brewton-Parker's centennial celebration.
Rehearsals will be on Tuesdays from 6-8 p.m. in the Gilder Recital Hall of the
Miller Music Building on the Brewton-Parker College campus.
Inquiries concerning the Choral Society may be directed to Bowdidge at
