Services Saturday at BPC for Sociology Professor C.A. George
The Brewton-Parker College
family mourns the passing of Dr. C.A. George, Professor of Sociology at
Brewton-Parker College since 1985.
George died Saturday morning, Oct. 11, in the St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital of
Savannah after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1:30 p.m. in Saliba Chapel at
Brewton-Parker.
"Dr. George was a valued member of the faculty who will be missed by all who
knew, worked with and studied under his instruction," said Dr. Ron Melton,
Provost at Brewton-Parker. "He was committed to Brewton-Parker College, and he
made many significant contributions during his tenure. His legacy will endure
through the many students he taught, and through his family."
George was a native of India, residing in Vidalia area for the past 18 years
while teaching at Brewton-Parker.
He is survived by his wife, Dr. Mariam George, Professor of Biology at
Brewton-Parker; two daughters, Dr. Bagie George and Cigie George; and one son,
Agie George.
Ronnie L. Stewart Family Funeral Service of Vidalia is in charge of funeral
arrangements. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 at
the funeral home, 1722 Mount Vernon Road in Vidalia.
Interment will follow the service in the Pinecrest Cemetery in Vidalia.
