Creative Writing Opportunities
Brewton-Parker College students interested in creative writing can participate in a variety of courses leading to a BA in English with a creative writing minor. Areas of focus include fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction.
In addition to these traditional tracks, students may also minor in film studies, with concentrations in theory, film-making, and writing.
A variedy of academic scholarships are available. For example, nearby students who win awards at our annual Young Writers Conference are elligible for a variety of scholarships. In addition, Brewton-Parker is a member of the Alliance For Young Artists and Writers.
The Creative Writing Community, under the auspecies of the Division of Arts and Letters, sponsors a visiting writer's fellowship. Visiting writers teach a variety of intense workshops, meet with students one-on-one, and give public readings followed by a question and answer session.
