Is there any smoking facilites on campus?

No, Brewton-Parker College is a 100% tobacco-free campus.

Who will be my roommate?
A room will be reserved when the $125.00 Housing Reservation Fee has been received by the Admission Office and forwarded to the Student Housing Office. At this time, roommate assignments are made on a first-come-first serve basis. Your roommate’s name address, and telephone number will be included in a mailing to you, along with your residence hall assignment.

May I select my roommate?
The Roommate Questionnaire along with the Housing Application has a location to specify a roommate. The names on the forms requesting roommates must be mutual for the request to be fulfilled.

When will I receive a specific room assignment?
Students will receive their assigned residence hall, room, and roommate by the end of July.

When do I need to arrive on campus?
A letter will be mailed with this information about arriving on campus.

Can I request to live in a specific residence hall?
Yes, residence hall assignments are made on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Are private rooms available?
Private rooms are available only if there are vacancies after all students have been placed in a room. If a private room is available after all students are housed, an additional fee of $1000 per semester is charged for the private room. The college reserves the right to assign full occupancy of all rooms within the residence halls. Requests for a private room are fulfilled on a first-come-first-served basis.

What are the refund policies?
A $125 non-refundable room reservation fee is required for each resident student. If the student does not enroll, a refund of this fee will be made upon receipt of a written request to the Director of Admissions thirty days prior to the beginning of the semester for which it was paid.

The Room Fee and Board Fee will be refunded at a flat rate of $77.00 each week for the remaining full weeks of the semester for students who withdraw before the end of the fifth week of classes.

After the fifth week of clases, there will be NO refund of the Room Fee or Board Fee.

What is furnished in each residence hall room?
Each room is furnished with two beds, two desks, two chairs, two chest-of-drawers, closet-space, blinds/shades, 1 television cable, and 2 ethernet network connection for Internet. Wirless internet in select dorms.

The floors in Dowling Hall, Friendship Hall, LeRoy Hall, and Baron Ridge have carpet. Thompson Hall floors are tile. McAllister Hall has hardwood floors.

Are the beds standard size and can the beds be bunked?

The beds can be bunked in all residence halls except McAllister Hall and LeRoy Hall. The regular sized twin sheets fit the mattresses (76”) in Dowling, Friendship, McAllister, Thompson, Baron Ridge, and LeRoy Hall.

What residential bathroom facilities are provided?

Thompson Hall has community bathrooms centrally located on each hall (approximately 50 students per bathroom with daily housekeeping). In Dowling Hall, Friendship Hall, McAllister Hall and Baron Ridge there are four students sharing a bathroom. In LeRoy Hall eight students share a bath. In all residence halls except Thompson the students are responsible for the upkeep of the bathroom.

What items do I need to bring?

Linens, blankets, bedspread, pillow, towels, washcloths, toiletries, clothes, laundry bag, umbrella, trashcan, broom/small vacuum/sweeper and cleaning supplies, alarm clock, and a UL approved power strip for appliances, iron and ironing board (small).

What items are not permitted?

Pets (including fish), room modifications (nails, paint, wallpaper, tapes that leave residue or damage to walls, etc.), items with open flames (candles, incense, halogen lamps, fireworks), firearms, or weapons of any kind are prohibited. Cooking appliances with open burners are not allowed in residence hall rooms, such as hotplates, grills (charcoal or gas). No concrete blocks or lofting of beds or loft system allowed in dorm.

What items are optional?

Small television (19” maximum), computer, stereo (small size speakers).

Refrigerators:

MUST be under the following specifications: 50 lbs., 2.5 cubic feet, 2.5 amperage draw.

MUST be plugged into a multi-outlet power strip with a circuit breaker.

Microwaves: There are two restrictions:

        1. Microwave ovens should not draw more than 750 Watts of power.

        2. Microwave ovens need to be plugged into a multi-outlet power strip with a        circuit breaker, NOT directly plugged into the wall.

What amenities are available?

Located in each residence hall are coin-operated washers/dryers ($1.00 per load). Vending machines are located in some dorms. The campus store, campus dining, coffee shop and campus post office are located in the Phillips Student Center. There is no ATM on campus.

May I send belongings to the school in advance of my arrival?

Yes. Address box(es) to the college address and include the student’s full name. Student will need to notify the Post Office prior to the arrival of the package(es) by calling 1-800-342-1087 or by e-mail: postoffice@bpc.edu
